Cannabigerol (CBG) is another prominent cannabinoid that is found in That’s Natural’s products. It’s not as well known as CBD, or THC for that matter, but it’s medical benefits should not be ignored!
Many people may not be aware that endocannabinoid receptors are prevalent in eye structures. CBG is shown in this study that it is particularly effective in treating glaucoma. Glaucoma is an increased pressure of the eyeball. So, CBG has been shown to reduce this intraocular pressure.
In this study from 2015, CBG was shown to protect neurons in mice with Huntington’s Disease. The study states, “CBG was extremely active as neuroprotectant in mice intoxicated with 3-nitropropionate (3NP), improving motor deficits and preserving striatal neurons against 3NP toxicity. In addition, CBG attenuated the reactive microgliosis and the upregulation of proinflammatory markers induced by 3NP, and improved the levels of antioxidant defenses that were also significantly reduced by 3NP.” And then concludes that, “our results open new research avenues for the use of CBG, alone or in combination with other phytocannabinoids or therapies, for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as HD.”
Amazing, right? It doesn’t end there.
We always hear about cancer and certain things helping those struggling with it – but do any of them really help? CBG has shown great promise as a cancer fighter. This study showed that CBG inhibited the growth of colorectal cancer cells in mice. It also inhibited tumors and chemically-induced cancer growth within the colon. Specifically, CBD was shown to block the unique receptors that cause cancer cells to grow.
CBG has also been shown to have strong anti-bacterial properties. Specifically, it was found to be particularly effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Until recently, researchers didn’t know the chemical composition of cannabinoids like CBG, so it was more difficult to understand how they worked. Research like this should be very encouraging for anyone suffering from bacterial agents.
