Indoor Super Silver Haze

Indoor Super Silver Haze

The Super Silver Haze is a hybrid strain with genes from Skunk, Northern Lights, and Haze. Super Silver Haze is one of the best sativa-dominant strains ever bred. It producesQ euphoria while calming the body and muting physical pains. This long-lasting cerebral buzz is accompanied by a peppery, earthy flavor.

Cultivating the Super Silver Haze indoors requires LST (low stress training) and SCROG (screen of green) methods to improve canopy growth. Hydroponically grow Super Silver Haze plants mature faster than their soil counterparts.

On average, Super Silver Haze requires 11 weeks to flower. Afterwards, it has a low to moderate yield. It’s not a strain for beginners because it requires an intermediate skill level to develop. Just keep in mind that it prefers a warm, humid climate with temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees F!

Being sativa-dominant, the Super Silver Haze requires less feeding than indicas. Be careful not to burn the plant with a lot of nutrients. Let the plants take in as much oxygen as possible to promote growth.

The setup used to start this grow involves:

  • Seeds/strain – Super Silver Haze
  • Lights – 600W HID equivalent LED panel
  • Tent – Secret Jardin 60cm x 60cm x 190cm
  • Extraction/intake/filter – RAM fan 100mm 277m3/h for extraction and a VENTS 150mm 200m3/h fan; filter is Bull filter 125mm 400m3/h
  • Pot and medium – 26L Dirt Pot filled with Biobizz Light Mix (20L), then some rinsed perlite (10L); total of 30L
  • Nutrients – Biobizz
  • Heating – 2 x 45W tubular heaters controlled by a device
  • Miscellaneous – 5W 15cm clip fan, humidifier, dehumidifier, ratchet hangers for the panel, pH pen, soil pH pen and EC pen; Hygrometer probe and dimmers for the fans

This plant is now 2 weeks old from sprouting.

from sprouting

June 9th

This plant is growing pretty fast. Topped her at the 4th node and removed the big fan leaves that usually form during the first 2 weeks. Will prepare her for the impending LST this weekend.

LST this weekend

June 12th

Performed some light LST on her today. She also received normal feeding and Biobizz according to schedule. It’s going pretty smoothly so far. Hope she tolerates the LST well enough.

Here she is 24 hours after the LST:

LST

As you can see, the leaves started to turn towards the light after the LST. She also needed some defoliation on the new cola sites.

Some notes on her feeding: the first feeding was half-strength two weeks ago as advised by Biobizz with the light mix soil.

She’s drinking like crazy and she’s absorbing all the nutrients pretty well. Unfortunately, the grow timing was a little off because of the summer temperatures. It reached 95 degrees F inside the tent today! Maybe she needs to be in veg a little longer so her buds can develop when the temperature is a little kinder.

So far, she’s doing perfect as long as the pH is within the 6.0 to 7.0 range. In her case, the hard water just needs a couple drops of lime juice to bring down the pH.

Here she is a week after the last update.

the last update

July 22nd

Just switched to flowering because she was growing much too much every day. If she keeps going at this rate, she might take over the entire tent! She’s a sativa-dominant strain but it seems she has the same bushiness as an indica strain. The Super Silver Haze had to go through a lot of defoliation.

The Super Silver Haze

She doesn’t look too tall in this photo but she’s already 60cm high. The next two weeks of flowering should be interesting.

July 25th

If you can recall, she already received some LST but the main colas are already touching the sides of the tent at this point. She still has about 60cm from the top of the tent. There’s not much to do but to just hope for a small stretch.

small stretch

August 5th

She keeps on stretching at 2 weeks into flowering.

at 2 weeks into flowering at 2 weeks into flowering

Going to defoliate her big fan leaves in the next few days and will also set the dehumidifier to avoid rot on the other parts of the plants especially the buds.

August 11th

Currently starting week 3 of flowering and she also started to receive full strength feeding based on Biobizz nutrient schedule.

Biobizz Biobizz

She was already defoliated but she’s still quite bushy.

August 20th

Starting Week 5 and this is how she looks like now. Notice how her buds are starting to put on some weight. The stretch has finally stalled too. This negates the possibility of any height issues.

August 29th

Finally some more good news! In the middle of Week 6 of flowering and did some back building by cutting the tip from all the main buds. Here are some photos so you can see how they are looking.
