Obama is Smoking Pot: An Unconvincing Telltale

During his time in office, President Obama didn’t come out as cannabis advocate. Even though his administration allowed the two states (Colorado and Washington) to make cannabis legal, he still went rogue against cannabis business in California. He also missed the opportunity to proceed with cannabis reform.

On the contrary, Obama was the first president who candidly confessed about using marijuana in his younger years. Even the book “Barack Obama: The Story” by David Maraniss portrayed Obama as champ cannabis smoker in his time at Occidental College in Los Angeles where he would ask his roommates after-class to “light up the long bong”.

There is another book by the former editor-in-chief of New York Times, Edward Klein, claims that Obama has come back to its college day’s routine. Nevertheless, people are skeptical about these claims because provided details in the book are very unusual. According to the book, he is spending his retirement days while having telephonic chats with his celeb friends, playing video games, smoking cannabis and consuming THC-containing gummy bears. Klein maintains that this information has been provided by a close friend of the Obama family, according to whom, the former president considers himself a man with cool and hipster disposition.

The same friend also made the assertions that the Obama gets its pot stash from a friend and smokes it in his bedroom or backyard and he still knows how to roll a joint. The most of Obama’s pot smoking occurs during his traveling.

It wouldn’t be surprising to know that the ex-president smokes pot in its leisure time but the thought that the Harvard grade president has established a marijuana den in his house seems a bit implausible. Some other startling yet unverified revelations are also mentioned in the book.

Obama is playing video games such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, Styx: Shards of Darkness and Halo War 2 Ultimate Edition.

Klein also writes that Obama has also become an online shopping aficionado, ordering hip leather jackets and expensive branded shades. The book also mentions about the heated exchange between Obama and Michelle about Malia’s pot smoking viral video. She blamed Obama’s reckless behavior regarding pot smoking for that.

All these claims seem very farfetched and look like the continuation of censuring Obama for his self-portrayal of a celebrity president. The website on which Klein’s article published about his book is notorious for his alt-right line and has spent significant effort in churning conspiracy theories that the former president was not a US born. Edward Klein’s own reputation as a journalist has been tarnished in recent times. Critics from both left and right are not fan of his recent work due to factual blunders and thin, unreliable sources. Therefore, it is better to take all these Obama stories with a pinch of salt.
