September 26,2017 Iceland
Iceland is easily one of the most beautiful places around the globe. Cannabis is also on the verge of setting its foot here, potentially giving more people an incentive to reside in this land. One of the members of the Reform Party has recently proposed a legalization bill to have recreational cannabis legalized in Iceland.
Pawel Bartoszek, who is the MP of the Reform Party, is the person putting forward the bill. This is, however, his fourth proposed bill in Parliament on this matter. He had also previously proposed three other plans for the legalization of adult-use marijuana in Iceland. Unfortunately, none of those got approval. The fourth one seeks regulations to be set up for the sales and production of this drug. This bill also seeks rules to decriminalize the consumption of cannabis.
Pawel has based his proposal on the handbook that was issued by the advocate group Transform of the UK. Pawel has stated this on his personal website. Hopes are also high for this bill to be cleared. In case it gets passed, it will legalize the consumption, production, and sales of the drug for citizens that are twenty years of age or older. The bill will also impede the liberty of designing fancy packages for the drug. It will restrict the packaging of cannabis to plain gray containers. In short, no advertising will be allowed on the packaging.
In an interview, Pawel said that he is quite keen about the bill getting approved. He said that the bill has all the potential to be the icebreaker and will impede any punishments that people face for the consumption of a particular substance.
Pawel Bartoszek talked on this matter briefly over his website. He called the probable decriminalization a progress in this industry. According to him, keeping the sales and production of cannabis illegal will make the country miss out on the opportunity to protect minors and children. The country will also lose the opportunity to make the most of tax consumption.
The reason why this fourth bill has brought more hope than the previous three is that it has gained quite a bit of support in the Parliament. What comes ahead, and if the bill will get approved or not, is left for time to tell.
