Girl Scout Cookies under CFL and LED

Girl Scout Cookies under CFL and LED

Before you start growing Girl Scout Cookies, remember it’s one of the moderately difficult strains to grow. It’s best to have a few grows under your belt before attempting to cultivate Girl Scout Cookies.

It’s traits make it a candidate for SOG (sea of green) indoors in either a soil or hydro system. The lower canopy should always be pruned to have consistent airflow and prevent mildew from forming. Finally, they’re always thirsty for calcium and magnesium so it’s important to pay attention to growth and signs of deficiencies.

Girl Scout Cookies don’t grow taller than 100cm and they spend an average of 9 weeks in flowering where they can possibly yield 40 to 99 grams of fresh buds per square meter.

This grow journal looks at an experienced growers approach in nurturing one Girl Scout Cookie indoors.

April 1st

This grow started out with one Girl Scout Cookie seed. After germinating, it was placed in Botanicare Coco Grow with some perlite mixed in. It’s currently in a 1-liter pot but will be eventually transplanted into its final 4-gallon pot.

A 45W full spectrum LED with 45W 5500 CFL and 92W 6500K CFL will be used during the veg stage but will switch to a 2700K for flower. The grow area isn’t air-cooled but is kept at 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Light watering is done once per day.

Today, she was watered with 4mL of Nectar for the Gods, 3mL of Medusa’s Magic, 4mL of Gaea Mania, 4mL of Zeus Juice and 10mL of Athenas Aminas. It was topped with 10mL of Microbe Life Hydroponics Foliar Spray and Root Dip pH-ed to 6.1 with Olympus pH Up per gallon of water. This grow will take an all-organic approach with the goal of having a better quality over quantity.

She’s starting to grow her second true set of leave. She looks really appealing under this lighting.

She’s 16 days old today and she’s adjusting pretty well from the latest transplant. It looks like she can tolerate another light shining down on her. Soon, an additional 54W LED will be added to this setup.

Doing a little LST but the leaves are just going straight up because the leaves just love the LEDs. They’re already 28 days old. She could have been bigger with chemical nutrients but the organic route should produce a healthy plant will little to no deficiencies or nute burn.

Bloom Khaos was added at 1/3 strength. She’s already putting out a strong, dank smell.
