After mounting public pressure and growing scientific evidence, the United Kingdom has finally legalized the use of cannabis for medical treatments. Recreational use, on the other hand, remains prohibited. When cannabis legalization had a lot of support among public but couldn’t scale legislative barriers, the focus shifted to the next best thing available i.e. CBD.
Amid marijuana prohibition, hemp-derived CBD products are considered legal in the UK because hemp is classified as an agricultural product. This provision gives a window of opportunity to businesses to capitalize on the growing demand of CBD among consumers. The Canna Kitchen, a restaurant located in Brighton and Hove, is likely to get the most out of the legal status of CBD.
Brighton is a famous coastal resort just an hour drive from London. The place is full of cafes, boutiques, and restaurants and remains packed with tourists from Europe and all around the world. From December 1, Brighton will become the first site in the United Kingdom with an establishment that will put cannabis-infused items on the menu.

The Canna Kitchen is known for its fine vegetarian dining experience. Sam Evolution, the director of the Kitchen, says that the menu will offer a variety of cannabis-infused culinary items. Cannabis contains two major cannabinoids: THC and CBD. The restaurant is going to use the latter in its offerings since THC is prohibited in the UK for its euphoric and psychoactive effects.
It is also important to mention here the CBD used by the Canna Kitchen will be sourced from legal hemp crop, a variant of cannabis sativa with negligible traces of THC. CBD doesn’t have psychedelic attributes like THC. Instead, it has been studied for many of its therapeutic benefits.
In the last couple of months, CBD-infused edibles have become really popular and somewhat common in jurisdictions where marijuana is not legal. For that matter, the introduction of the CBD-infused menu in the UK for the first time might not be big news for many. However, the Canna Kitchen is striving to stand out among establishments offering cannabis-infused products.

Apart from CBD, the restaurant is also going to infuse two other non-psychoactive cannabinoids in its dishes. CBG and CBN have a negligible presence in a hemp plant. But research suggests that amid their minor amount, CBG and CBN have multiple therapeutic benefits including appetite stimulation and pain management. These cannabinoids are also thought to mitigate the symptoms of an anxiety attack.
According to Sam Evolution, by offering cannabis-infused products, they want to change the perception regarding the plant that has been developed over the years through misinformation and deliberate propaganda.
For instance, there are many who even consider hemp as a psychoactive plant. While the truth of the matter is that hemp seed is one of the most nutritionally wholesome foods. The Canna Kitchen, therefore, will include dishes made of hemp botanical. In the next phase, the restaurant has a plan to launch a café offering cannabis-infused drinks.
