Growing Outdoors in Scandinavia

Growing Outdoors in Scandinavia

Growing cannabis in the cold northern region of Europe sounds like a crazy idea that is until one Scandinavian showed how it is possible.

Grower: Dali

Location: Northern Scandinavia
Seeds: Kaya Gold Seeds, Jock Horror Seeds and Blue Mystic Seeds
Yield: Low

Dali prepared the following as he gets ready to plant the three strains.

  • 3 Kaya Gold seeds
  • 4 Jock Horror seeds
  • 4 Blue Mystic seeds
  • Dirt
  • Organic fertilizer
  • Perlite
  • Water

12-Jun

Finding a spot to grow cannabis is easy today with the use of technology. That is what Dali did when he first used Google Earth to find a spot for his plants. After visiting, not only was the place lovely, it appeared to be suitable too.

The initial steps for planting the seeds were simple: dig out tiny holes, fill them with soil, and water them. Last, using plastic cups with holes on top will serve as greenhouses for the plants.

As the days progress, let us witness how Dali did with the three kinds of seeds.

17-Jun

Six days after planting, two of the three Kaya Gold seeds sprouted. Unfortunately, the third one, although alive, is very pale in color.

One out of the three Blue Mystic seeds showed a sign of life. Tiny leaves are sprouting above the soil, however, the other two displayed no signs yet.

The Jock Horror seeds, like the Blue Mystic ones, are still a no-show at this point. Only one seed appeared to have leaves growing at this point.

Like humans, the plants need some water as well. So don’t forget to give them some!

24-Jun

Seeds have different reactions in different environments. To see that, we used auto feminized seeds of Blue Mystic and a Jock Horror. One seed each in a pot will be grown on a balcony.

25-Jun

Looks like those seeds that showed no signs of life during the first week are failures. But, looking at the bright side, the other seeds that sprouted some leaves weeks ago are still doing very well.

Now, it was time to add a little bit of organic fertilizer. After mixing a tiny drop of water, all was ready to go.

UPDATE ON THE INDOOR PLANTS: Both seeds are sprouting!

Time to re-plant the balcony ladies!

It appears that the Jock Horror seed is very tiny, giving us the idea that it is not meant to be grown indoors. Also, it may not survive this Scandinavian weather.

The good thing now is the Blue Mystic seed. This lady is looking great, even for the birds (a tiny bird had its first taste)! By the looks of it, she’s ready to join the others in not more than two weeks.

The ladies in the woods are doing well.

The plants said farewell to the cups now as they were too small for them already.

As usual, there was a good dose of water and fertilizer-water mix for them. The light citrus smell of the Kaya Gold plant is amazing.

Indoors, the growth of the Blue Mystic is slow yet steady but the Jock Horror seed is still very tiny. Goes to show how different the seeds can react in the same environment.

An update on the balcony seeds:

Blue Mystic is now 12 centimeters tall while Jack Horror is only at 5 centimeters. But the latter seems to be growing stronger.

Hooray for transfer day! Our indoor babies are now joining the outdoor ones.

Indoor Blue Mystic plant was re-planted next to the outdoor Kaya Gold plant. Also, the indoor Jack Horror plant was then placed next to the outdoor Blue Mystic plant.

The outdoor plants were looking a little yellow, can be due to lack of nutrition can also be because of drought.

Next, a mix of perlite and soil gave the plants some of the nutrients that they needed. Water and organic fertilizer sealed everything in.

03-Sep

Sad to say, the outdoor plants did not survive. There is no known cause for their death but hey, at least the indoor ladies are still here.

19-Sep

Blue Mystic has turned into a darker color, now we know she is doing very well and in her flowering stage! Don’t worry, Jock Horror is doing well also.
