What happens when you cultivate two cannabis strains at the same time? This grow journal explores cultivating the Super Lemon Haze and the Sour Cream cannabis strains together.
The Super Lemon Haze is a hybrid of the Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze. As the name suggests, its taste is characteristic of lemons. It produces energetic effects too.
Cultivating Super Lemon Haze requires moderate cannabis growing skills. When left untreated, this strain can reach more than 78 inches in height, and yield 1 to 3 ounces of usable cannabis per square foot after a flowering period of 7 to 9 weeks.
Meanwhile, Sour Cream is a sativa-dominant hybrid of G-13 Haze and Sour Diesel. Sour Cream has a sour aroma but has enough kick for almost immediate stress relief. It does well in indoor gardens after a flowering period of 10 to 12 weeks.
Grower: nft4life
Location: NA
Yield: 70 grams for 4 plants (dried)
Seeds: Super Lemon Haze and Sour Cream

The following materials and supplies were used to start the process:
- Lights – 2 x 36W T8 tubes for veg; 400W HPS with Cooltube for flowering
- Fertilizer – GH Bloom, Grow, and Hydro
They are still currently germinating. One Super Lemon Haze (SLH) has sprouted nicely but the Sour Cream (SC) seems to be slower. The seeds will be transplanted into rockwool cubes.

Four seeds have sprouted! They’re beginning to grow out of the rockwool cubes.

Built a drip-feed hydro system. It’s been 10 days now and still only have 4 plants. However, two more seeds are showing signs of sprouting soon. This should turn into a 5-plant grow in hydro. The Sour Cream seeds seem to have the poorest germination percentage.

Here are a couple of photos to show how the plants have developed since they sprouted. This is the oldest girl at 13 days. She is one of the Sour Cream plants.
Added some more soil into the pot after taking the first photo. This is the temporary system which uses 2 x T8 tubes at 6500K and 4 x T5 tubes providing some 2700K color to the mix.
In the back, you can see another Sour Cream – she is about a week old. Two Super Lemon Haze plants are standing in front.
July 2nd
Here’s another photo update. The growth is really slow due to the wrong light spectrum and since only flowering lamps are available, will switch to 12/12 light cycle from today on. These plants will not have a great yield but this is good practice for the next grow.
July 7th
This is Super Lemon Haze #1. Scarlett’s her name.
Super Lemon Haze #2 is named Charlotte.
And this is Sour Cream #1 who is also known as Sophie.
And this will be a mother plant. Cuttings will be taken from her to produce the next generation of Sour Cream cannabis.
The plants look healthy. They’re a little slow on growth and it could be due to high pH. All are standing now without any support and looking stronger every day!
July 23rd
Switched to an 11/13 light cycle to speed up the flowering. Quite surprised by how well they are growing now.
Added 3 x T5 tubes horizontally with 2700K color temperature on all three sides of the plants to provide more light to the lower leaves as well. Will maintain this set up as long as the temperature doesn’t get out of hand.

Here’s some plant porn for you! These photos were taken under the sexy Purple TSHO lighting.

August 5th
Here are more pictures. You can see the flowers are taller in the Super Lemon Haze. The nodes are twice as far from each other compared to the other 2 plants.
August 8th
This photo sucks but you can see the grow room had to be reorganized because the Super Lemon Haze plants are still stretching and almost reaching the ceiling now! They started flowering at 20cm tall and now they’re close to 150cm! Had to move the taller one on the floor. Soon, they’ll have to be tied down.
August 13th
Fed them with medium to heavy nutes. Temperatures are just below 90 degrees F. The largest Super Lemon Haze has over 50 flowers on her! Hope she’ll be strong enough to carry all that weight!
August 23rd
The main cola is forming up nicely in the Super Lemon Haze. Not much progress on the other two girls yet. Starting to consider moving the plants to another location where they can go through the flowering stage without worry. Looks like the Sour Cream is developing much slower than expected so she will need some extra time.
August 25th
A time for a big photo update! Here’s a photo of the Sour Cream. You can see how fat she has become. She’s a nice tree but seriously contemplating re-vegging her.
