Are you doing all you can when it comes to keeping your kindbud fresh? You might be surprised what you don’t know about storing your ganja. You may be doing it all wrong, and not even be aware. Here are some tips on keeping your kindbud as fresh as possible.
Definitely Store it in a Glass Container
A glass container is the best when it comes to keeping your kindbud fresh. The best glass containers are the ones specifically designed for storing weed, aka nug jars. You can simply use a mason jar. Glass helps to preserve the flavor of your cannabis, while preventing it from drying out too much. If you can, you should absolutely store yours in glass.
Sometimes it’s Good to Keep Things in the Dark
Typically the phrase “keeping one in the dark” is not a positive one. It usually refers to keeping a secret from someone, but not in this case. This time it means keeping your kindbud fresh. Sunlight is damaging to your herb because it dries it out and then turns it into crumbs. Surely, you don’t want that, do you?
Make Sure Your Container is Airtight
As long as everything is airtight, your cannabis will stay fresh for quite a long time. Exposing your cannabis to the air saps the moisture right out of your grass. This will make it harsher to smoke and ruin the taste. Of course, every time you open up your storage container to load your piece, you are exposing your cannabis to the elements. There is no way to avoid this, hence why it’s important to store your stash in an airtight container.

Try to Avoid Plastic
Plastic is the worst thing that you can use to keep your kindbud fresh. Glass containers are impermeable and do not release gases. Titanium is the next best option because unlike plastic, it does not release gas. It will dry out your cannabis, ruin the flavor, and also damage the terpenes. I know there’s a tendency to store your cannabis in the plastic container you got it in. I used to keep mine in a plastic bag. You know what happened? My stuff dried out really fast and turned to literal dust. Never keep your cannabis in plastic, at least not for more than a day.
Use a Humidor
Keeping your kindbud fresh in an airtight glass or metal container does help, but if you’re interested in long term storage, you will want to invest in a good humidor. Cannabis does lose its moisture after awhile, the only way to prevent this is to use a humidor. If you want to get really fancy, you can get the type that allows you to control the humidity. Of course, a simple humidor button will also do the trick. You can find these at any smoke shop.
Do NOT Store it in the Freezer
Never under any circumstances store your cannabis in the fridge or freezer. What is it that freezers do? They dry things out, which you definitely don’t want to do. Freezers also cause the trichomes to separate from your cannabis, which will affect the potency. Conversely, don’t store your cannabis above any appliances like a microwave or the stove, because this will also dry it out.
Got it everyone?
