From CEO Tisha Casida - This is the opinion of Tisha Casida and not that of That’s Natural Marketing & Consulting.
I am also excited about the opportunity to educate and empower consumer’s with pertinent information regarding cannabinoids that can benefit their health and wellness.
The FDA only approves ‘drugs’ - of which GW Pharmaceuticals (a publicly traded cannabis/marijuana company (NASDAQ: GWPH)) is in the process of creating two (Sativex and Epidiolex) based on the CBD molecule. It is That’s Natural’s opinion that: the CBD molecule that GW Pharmaceuticals is using, however, is synthesized (not naturally derived), giving this large corporation the opportunity to ‘patent’ CBD as a drug - forever making it impossible for small producers like ourselves to be able to create anything that says “CBD” on it. This will also stop individuals from being able to source naturally plant-derived cannabinoids like CBD - a dangerous proposition for free people.
Cannabinoids like CBD are found in many plants beyond cannabis - CBD can also be found in: echinacea, electric daisy, liverwort, black pepper among others.
The Department of Health and Human Services has a patent (Patent #6,630,507) on cannabinoids, creating some hypocrisy among government agencies.
The patent’s abstract (via Google https://www.google.com/patents/US6630507) - “Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia. Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidoil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention.”
Over the past 40 years, there have been over 20,000 journal articles on cannabinoids and their potential positive effects for disease - you can find many of these on the government website - the National Institutes of Health. These are peer-reviewed journal articles from researchers with the knowledge of what cannabinoids can do for people’s Endocannabinoid System - the applications are immense.
The DEA has been taken to court twice by the Hemp Industry Association (HIA) over the naturally occurring cannabinoids that exist in hemp - the Hemp Industry Association has won both times.
Hemp Industry Association v. Drug Enforcement Administration, 333 F.3d 1082 (9th Cir. 2003)
Hemp Industry Association v. Drug Enforcement Administration, 357 F.3d 1012 (9th Cir. 2004)
That’s Natural sources its CBD-rich hemp oil products from local producers - supporting farming and natural/biodynamic agriculture. We have thousands of customers across the country who have experienced an improvement in their quality of life. We ask that people stand up for their natural and constitutional rights to consume plant-based medicine.
That’s Natural believes it is individual’s natural and constitutional right to consume non-psychoactive cannabinoids (like CBD) from the hemp plant, or any plant for that matter. Anything that comes naturally from a plant should never be able to be taken away from the people. People have a right to grow and consume plant-based medicines without the approval of any government agency. If the plant (echinacea, electric daisy, liverwort, black pepper) is non-psychoactive with no known negative side effects - regulatory agencies in the federal level of government should have a hands off approach. There are bigger problems (opioid epidemic - thank you prescription drugs) for them to focus on.
That’s Natural will comply with the FDA’s request to remove certain verbiage, including the peer-reviewed journal articles that we have found on the NIH site, from the website and social media. We ask for common sense when it comes to medicine. All free people have a right to experience health and wellness from naturally derived cannabinoids. We should not HAVE to only take FDA-approved synthesized drugs. We should be able to experience natural plant-based medicine in its truest form. That’s Natural!
In Peace, Love, and Liberty,
Tisha Casida, CEO
