The City of Henderson, Nevada’s Second Largest City to Start Marijuana Sales This Week

The city of Henderson will begin the sales of  marijuana for adult-use from this Friday. Recently, the City Council accepted the applications of five recreational marijuana dispensaries. With this in effect, Nevada’s second largest city is going to become the legalized territory for adult-use cannabis.

It has been three months since the state approved the sale of adult-use marijuana after long and extensive argument and discussion between city administration and the supporters of adult-use cannabis. Finally, five establishments will start to legally sell adult-use marijuana.

Essence Cannabis Dispensary, The Dispensary, The Source and Jenny’s Dispensary are the five marijuana dispensaries given the permits to operate in Henderson. The city has a population of about 300,000 and is situated nearly 16 miles southeast of the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas.

On January 1, 2017, the state legitimatized the possession of one ounce of cannabis or one-eighth part an ounce of concentrates of THC by adults over 21 following the passage of Maine Question 2, 2016 in November’s Presidential election.

Legal sales of recreational marijuana had started on July 1 in the entire state of Nevada. However, the city of Henderson ratified a six-month suspension of sales in February which was then further extended by one month time period.

The City Council has set a precondition to get the official approval of starting an adult-use cannabis business. The dispensaries interested in operating in the city are required to get banking services in the following six months so that the authorities can easily keep a check on the revenues and tax payment of the adult-use cannabis business.
