Sweet Tooth and AutoMazar Coco Grow

Sweet Tooth and AutoMazar Coco Grow

Why is coco coir ideal for growing cannabis?

Manny indoor growers favor coco for several reasons. First, coco creates an environment similar to soil. Coco coir can be treated like soil. It’s also great for plant roots because of coco coir’s effectivity in holding onto moisture and nutrients. However, coco’s light texture lets it hold on to more oxygen. These features promote healthy and fast root development compared to other potting mixes.

Growing in coco coir gives the benefits of hydro with a soil experience. This results in a quicker harvest and bigger yields without having to manage a water reservoir.

Finally, cannabis growing in coco coir are also less likely to be attacked by pests and bugs because it doesn’t make a good home for many garden pests that affect soil growers.

Check out the grow journal chronicling the growth of two different cannabis strains in coco coir.

This grow started out with the following supplies:

  • Strains – Sweet Tooth and AutoMazar
  • Lights – 1 x Mars Hydro 300W LED, 1 x Mars Hydro II 400W LED
  • Pots – 2-gallon pots
  • Medium – Coco coir with 35% perlite

Not much to report yet but they got their first feeding today. Here are photos of AutoMazar.

On Day 1, this seedling has sprouted from the ground.

On Day 15, the leaves have finally formed well.

Here’s the Sweet Tooth on Day 8.

the Sweet Tooth

By the 15th day, her leaves are as well developed as the AutoMazar’s. However, you can see she is obviously smaller.

So far, they have been receiving partial strength nutes. They were also topped today to help spread out new growth.

And now, here are some photos showing the amazing recovery from topping. The AutoMazar has the most new growth but both are still doing great. No signs of deficiency or any discolorations so far. The AutoMazar is on the left and the Sweet Tooth is on the right.

New week, new update. The AutoMazar’s growth is really exploding. Started some LST on her and she had a full liter of nutes today.

The Sweet Tooth is not doing too much. Still growing but she hasn’t caught up to her AutoMazar sibling yet.

To help them stretch, the plants were lowered to distance the lights from them. It seems to have a huge effect on them. Added a little pruning to open up bud sites. They both received a healthy dose of Big Bloom for a boost.

The Mazar is starting to take more than a liter of water per day.

And here is the Sweet Tooth. It seems she’s finally able to catch up with the AutoMazar.

Just a short update after more LST and some light defoliation to uncover more bud sites. Check out how the AutoMazar is doing. She’s filling out horizontally pretty well. She’s also showing more bud sites.

Meanwhile, the Sweet Tooth is noticeably thicker. With the training, she will be considerably bushier. For now, she’s being fed lighter because she’s still smaller than her sibling.

So far, the Mars lights really make the tent bright. The plants also look perkier today after the flush. The flush was done with 2 gallons of pH-ed water and was finished with a regular dose of CalMag, silicon, Bud Igniter, and Bud Candy.

January 22nd

Both girls are doing great after the heavy flush. The pair have also started on Fox Farms open Sesame. They’ve also both developed a lot of bud sites probably due to the Advanced Nutrients Bud Igniter. Routine defoliation is always done to keep up with the new growth.

Here’s the AutoMazar. She’s starting to stretch,
