Say you know someone who you think would benefit from using cannabis, they’re super stressed out, they’re in a lot of pain, et cetera, et cetera. There are lots of reasons for someone to try cannabis, but some people who could benefit from it are afraid of trying it. They might be afraid that they’ll have a bad reaction and they’ll end up in the emergency room. They could be afraid of their job finding out, or maybe they just hate the smell. Perhaps this person wants to try it, but just won’t. Let’s face it, they need your help. However, you should be aware that this article is for entertainment purposes only. Unless you are a medical doctor, you should not be giving medical advice. With that out of the way, here are some arguments you can use to convince someone to try cannabis.
“You’re Not Going to Overdose”
As of this writing no one has ever overdosed and died from cannabis. No one ever will, I’m pretty sure. People can take too much and have a bad trip, but that’s not going to happen here. Tell your friend that you will make sure they’re not going to consume too much. You’re going to monitor them closely and take care of them to ensure they have as chill a time as possible.
“No One is Going to Find Out”
If your friend is concerned with trying cannabis and being found out by their spouse, or even worse their boss, gently assure them that no one is going to find out. You’re not in the business of telling other people’s business to people. Stoners are not as gossipy as drunks. We’re typically in better control of ourselves than drunk people, especially when it comes to what comes out of our mouths.
“You’re Going to Love it”
This seems kind of like basic advice, but it works. Nothing helps convince someone to try cannabis quite like the “try it, you’ll like it” move. Your friend will love it because smoking weed is awesome and it makes you feel great. Tell them stories about all the fun times you’ve had when you’ve gotten baked. Emphasize how much cannabis would help whatever issue they’re dealing with, e.g. “Hey I know you’re super stressed out at work. Smoking this joint will help you chill out and center you.”

“Smoking Weed is Not Going to Turn You into an Addict”
One of the reasons some people are averse to trying cannabis is they think it’s a gateway drug that will lead to them shooting up on street corners. The gateway drug theory has been disproven time and time again. Even president Obama’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch said that opiates were the real gateway drugs. Even someone who at one point was the top cop in America, doesn’t think cannabis is dangerous. Too bad she’s been replaced with an angry little racist gnome who thinks cannabis is “only slightly less awful” than heroin.
However…Remember Not to Pressure Them
You are not there to peer pressure anyone. All you want to do is convince someone to try cannabis, not force them into it. A good friend doesn’t do that. If they keep telling you no, then you need to take that into account. The fact is that cannabis is not for everyone, and some people are just not going to like it no matter what. More for you, right?
