Skin Care Benefits from Cannabinoids Like CBD

One of the best ways to enjoy the effects of non-psychoactive cannabinoids like CBD is transdermally - on the skin.  When the cutaneous endocannabinoid system is in #balance, it appears that there is less of the pathological conditions of #acne #dermatitis #psoriasis and even #cancer. That’s Natural has a skin-care line that includes: our signature CBD-Rich Healing Crème, Super Salve, Face & Eye Dream Crème, and our popular Bosom/Body Lotion Potion. In a recent interview with NewBeauty, several skin professionals opened about uses for CBD. Ildi Pekar is a celebrity facialist for supermodels. Dr Sejal Shah and Dr Estee Williams are dermatologists in New York that were also interviewed about CBD.

Pekar explained that CBD contains strong antioxidant properties, which makes it an ideal way of reducing inflammation in the skin and body. She said, “Most people are unaware of how inflammation in the skin and body can be a root cause for other major health concerns, making it important to reduce inflammation for your health." Dr Shah followed this up by explaining that CBD has been anecdotally used for a wide variety of medical issues. "It also acts as an anti-inflammatory and contains beneficial amino acids, vitamins and minerals."

These professionals believe that topical uses of CBD are most effective, but that internal uses also have benefits. Dr Williams explained that “A few small studies suggest that topical cannabinoids may be helpful in select skin diseases, such as psoriasis, eczema and dry skin. However, there is no data to suggest it would have any benefit to acne, rosacea, or cosmetic concerns such as skin wrinkling and loss of elasticity, or that it has any preventive anti-aging benefits.”

This is where Dr Williams and Pekar disagree. Pekar points out that CBD oil is full of antioxidants that help to soothe and heal inflammation, which helps to hydrate the skin, and treat acne. "When teamed up with hydrating oils, the cannabinoids also contribute to the skin's natural barrier function, as they stimulate cell regeneration for healthier, youthful look.”

"CBD is going to be a huge breakthrough in skin care (and in medicine for the body), and we are always finding new and better ways to consume this ingredient for healing purposes," says Pekar.
