We always read about when certain studies come out, and what their results are. What we don’t hear about is what studies are currently happening. The interest over the past several years has sparked funding, which is leading to real science and research being completed.

This website gives a comprehensive list of what studies are being done for Cannabidiol. Currently there are 24 studies being done ranging from Schizophrenia, infantile spasms, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, autism, Dravet syndrome, nausea and vomiting, anxiety, PTSD, osteoarthritis, and more.

If you search for the abbreviation of Cannabidiol, CBD, many more studies are underway. There are 87 current studies under “actively enrolling CBD”, and 32 under “soon recruiting CBD”. These 143 studies cover 22 conditions. Many of the studies are simply to see the effects of CBD in healthy humans, if there is cannabis use disorders, and others that are not geared toward a specific issue.

This website breaks down some specific health issues being studied. Some of the major ones include: epilepsy, opiate addiction, Sturge-Weber Syndrome, Infantile Spasms, and more.

There are three clinical trials researching how CBD can affect epilepsy. One clinical trial is investigating how CBD interacts with epileptic children between ages 1-18. For the first 20-64 weeks, researchers will determine the optimal dosage for severe forms of epilepsy. Adverse effects and side effects will be documented during this time as well. The second clinical trial will research the interaction between CBD and Clobazam, while the third will test CBD on drug resistant epilepsy children ages 2-19.

Opiate addiction will be studied by evaluating data while continuing to evaluate safety. This study will complete in 2017, in hopes of finding better ways to keep addicts from relapsing.

Sturge-Weber Syndrome (SWS) is a rare neurological and skin disorder that is often asymptomatic. In December 2014 the goal was to determine the optimal dosage of CBD to treat SWS, and they are now estimating completion in the first month of 2018 while measuring the change in seizure frequency.

Infantile Spasms in children between 6 and 36 months of age will be conducted. It is described as a rare and terrible form of epilepsy that current medications are not resolving.

As research continues, the more we will find out about how CBD impacts the lives of people with certain disorders. The more research that is done showing benefits, the more funding will become available.
