How Does CBD Affect Inflammation?

It’s been said that inflammation is the root cause of many diseases/disorders. If people can reduce the inflammation, a lot of the pain and discomfort they are experiencing from a variety of issues likely will diminish or completely resolve. CBD, or Cannabidiol, has been shown to help inflammation. It’s been said that inflammation is the root cause of many diseases/disorders. If people can reduce the inflammation, a lot of the pain and discomfort they are experiencing from a variety of issues likely will diminish or completely resolve. One study claims that:

“We report that systemic and intrathecal administration of cannabidiol (CBD)….and its modified derivatives significantly suppress chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain without causing apparent analgesic tolerance in rodents. The cannabinoids significantly potentiate glycine currents in dorsal horn neurons in rat spinal cord slices. The analgesic potency of 11 structurally similar cannabinoids is positively correlated with cannabinoid potentiation of the α3 GlyRs. In contrast, the cannabinoid analgesia is neither correlated with their binding affinity for CB1 and CB2 receptors nor with their psychoactive side effects.”

This study concluded by stating that cannabinoids, such as CBD, may represent a wide class of therapeutic agents for pain and other diseases. Additionally, another study discusses the topical/transdermal use of CBD and inflammation. This study found that CBD, when applied transdermally, prevented the inflammation of edema induced by sub-plantar injection in animal models. It concluded that transdermal CBD could be used as an effective anti-inflammatory treatment.

A final study discussed how CBD has been shown to block diabetes – endotoxin-induced retinal damage. The results showed that CBD blocked adenosine uptake and synergistically enhanced adenosine’s TNF-α suppression. In conclusion, it stated that CBD’s “anti-inflammatory effects are linked to the inhibition of adenosine uptake.”

As more studies come out, and more is understood about CBD and its actions, it becomes more obvious why CBD is so important. Its anti-inflammatory properties seem to be helping with a variety of different ailments. If inflammation is the root of so many diseases/disorders, it shouldn’t be a surprise why CBD has been shown to help with so many medical ailments.
